John A. Geldart

John A. Geldart, 91, of Toms River died December 26, 2018 in Raleigh, NC. John worked for Perlmutter Shoprite, Toms River for 17 years, John was a self-employed salesman for many years. Born in Montclair, he resided in Bloomfield before moving to Toms River many years ago. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. John was a member of First United Methodist Church, Toms River for 30 years and belonged to their Men’s club. He was also a member of Oceanport United Methodist Church, Oceanport. John was a member of the Old Guard and Glee Club, Toms River. John was a hospice volunteer and worked for Caregivers. Among his many hobbies, John enjoyed singing in the church choir and was known for his great sense of humor and love of food! John is survived by his loving wife Joy, his daughter Dawn Sacchitello and her husband, Carmine, and grandson Christian, his daughter-in-law Jeanette, granddaughters Destiny and Samantha, his great-grandson, Mason and his beloved dog Suzy. John was predeceased by his son David Stratton. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:30pm Sunday, January 20, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 129 Chestnut St., Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his honor to Oceanport United Methodist Church, 50 Main St., Oceanport, NJ 07757 to help restore the churches porch, his pet project.
