Lenny W. Earley

Lenny W. Earley, 72, of Lakehurst passed away July 11, 2019. Born in Lakewood, he was a lifelong resident of Lakehurst. While serving in the Air National Guard, Lenny was a jet mechanic. He spent 38 years as a mechanic for Downs Ford and 10 years for Manchester Public Works. Lenny built a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe and 1937 Ford Slant Back. Lenny was a State Inspector for the National Street Rod Association (NRSA). Lenny raced motorcycles with a passion, dirt track, drag racing, enduros. Lenny was President of the Lakehurst Historical Society for 10 years. He started the Lakehurst Historical Society 4th of July car show along with Gran Mom, Mary Scilex. He organized the show for 22 years and loved doing it for the society, townspeople and car show people. Lenny was a Deacon for the Lakehurst Presbyterian Church for 10 years. Lenny was little league manager, “Giants”, Lakehurst sponsored by the VFW. Lenny received the 1994-1995 Citizen of the Year Award VFW Post 10061, 1994-1995 VFW District 12 Ocean County Outstanding Citizen Award and 1995 Outstanding Citizen Award third runner up VFW Department of New Jersey. Lenny loved his family, friends and his church family. Lenny was predeceased by his brother Larry C. Earley and sister Marie Basso. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary Earley, his son Lenny, Jr. and his daughter-in-law Amanda and extended family in New Jersey, Florida, Ohio and many friends. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9pm Sunday, July 14th and 9am Monday, July 15th with a service at 10am at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst. Burial 11:30am at Riverside Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the Lakehurst Presbyterian Church, Lakehurst Historical Society or Ocean of Love.
